Mission:
The mission of the Pagan Archives Network (PAN) is to serve as a finding aid for Pagan Studies. It is a web-based index of both physical and electronic scholarly materials.
Scope:
Religions/Traditions:
Formats: Archival collections, Periodicals, Oral histories
History:
The Pagan Archives Network began with a conversation between Chas Clifton and Gordon Melton in 2006 about the need for a virtual Pagan Studies archive. Following the publication of Her Hidden Children: The Rise of Wicca and Paganism in America (and the subsequent deposit of his research materials into the UCSB American Religions Collection), Clifton repeated the call for a Pagan Studies archive. Cliff Landis answered the call and has since led the development of the Pagan Archives Network, both as a website and archival database.
PAN continues to grow both as a community of volunteers and as a website. As such, we are working together to preserve the history, integrity, and scholarship of our community. Won't you join us?
